Dr. Chand Ramaiah installed as ICS-US Section 2017 President.

During the Honors Luncheon on Friday, June 17, 2016 Dr. Ramaiah was installed as the US Section's 2017 President. He will assume office on January 1st. A brief bio follows below:

Dr. Ramaiah obtained his medical degree in 1990 from Bangalore Medical College in India. Before
moving to the United States, he did a 6 month internship in Neurosurgery at the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences. After a year of research in the Division of Neurosurgery at the University of Kentucky,
he was accepted into a preliminary surgery position. The following year, in 1993, he matched at the
University of Kentucky into a categorical surgery position and completed his training in 1999 as the
Administrative Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Tufts New
England Medical Center in 2001.

Dr. Ramaiah started his career returning to the University of Kentucky as Assistant Professor of Surgery
in the division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of
Surgery in 2006. He was the Director of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and was the first in the
state of Kentucky to use the da Vinci robot in surgery. He was also the director of the Cardiothoracic
Surgery ICU and served as the Director of the Heart Transplant Program and as the Co-Director of
the Cardiovascular Service Line. While at UK, he was recognized as one of the best teachers and an
accomplished researcher. In 2013, he relocated to Nashville, TN and now practices at Saint Thomas
West Hospital where he also serves as the Director of Aortic Surgery and Co-Director of Comprehensive
Aortic Center.

Dr. Ramaiah enjoys spending time with his wife Kushi and his daughter Meghna, who grew up with
ICS-US attending her first meeting at age 2. He also loves to travel internationally and has been invited
to give lectures and present research work at many international meetings.
