Dr. Thavam Thambi-Pillai Elected 2021 ICSUS President

The ICS-US Section House of Delegates elected Dr. Thavam Thambi-Pillai from Sioux Falls, South Dakota as the US Section's 2021 President during their Annual Meeting in Farmington, Pennsylvania on May 2, 2019. Dr. Thambi-Pillai currently serves as the US Section Treasurer and will become the President-Elect on January 1, 2020. Dr. Thambi-Pillai has been extremely active since joining the College in 2006. He became active in the US Section leadership as a Regent in 2014 and due to his hard work and active participation was quickly elevated to positions such as Vice President, Chair of the Board of Regents, Secretary and Treasurer prior to being elected as the 2021 President during the recent US Section Annual Meeting.

Dr. Thambi-Pillai has recently been elevated to Professor of Surgery at the Sanford School of Medicine, University of South Dakota. He specializes in Laparoscopic liver resections, minimally invasive surgery, endocrine surgery and trauma surgery. He also provides comprehensive surgical care for renal failure patients. He is the Surgical Director of the Sanford Transplant Center and Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at the Sanford School of Medicine. He has an MBA in Health Care and is an active participant in humanitarian relief projects around the world.
